Recently there was the unveiling of the portrait (copy) of Robert Cunningham (founder of Edinburgh Institution) in Merchant’s Hall by Captain Christopher Hall, the Great Great Nephew of Robert Cunningham. The original portrait and that of his wife Elizabeth, hang in the Dean, were gifted to the School by Captain Hall.
Gilbert Archer, Old Master of the Merchant Company, very kindly donated the costs of installing the portrait in Merchant’s Hall.
The portrait now hangs in the Main Hall.
